About Us

In the fall of 2017, Garden Deva's founder and artist extraordinaire, Lisa Regan, was ready to retire! After over two decades as a nationally recognized artist creating unique metal work for Tulsa, she’d made the difficult decision to close the doors of Garden Deva. She was spending more time running the business and less time doing what she loved: making art!

Under her leadership, Garden Deva had become a beloved local shop with a support staff of metal workers, designers, & office staff - a creative and ever-evolving family.

Around this time, serendipitously a mutual friend connected Lisa with Kari Hackbarth, a fan of Lisa’s work who wanted to keep the doors open! Lisa sold the shop to Kari’s family, allowing the shop to stay open to the public, while giving Lisa the freedom to pursue her art.

Since then, Kari and the Garden Deva team have been busy! We found Garden Deva a new home right around the corner on 3rd and Peoria, have hosted several art markets, taught lots of metalworking classes, and continued refreshing our gallery with new metal creations from Lisa and other local artists.

So, here's what's new:

In the fall of 2020, Kari hired Robert Earl Babcock III to join the Garden Deva team as a painter and shipper. As an artist his focus has been on painting, but working in a metal art shop intrigued him. Bobby began contributing his signature paint technique - the colorful tie-dye paint.

Tie-dye paint quickly became a popular element of our garden sculptures, bringing new color and cheer!

But the story doesn't end there...

Through working together daily, Kari (the owner) and Bobby (the artist) fell in love. Shortly thereafter, they tied the knot in the West Texas desert, and the (now) Babcocks are leading the Garden Deva team together with a continued creative and happy spirit!

What does this mean for Garden Deva?

We are entering this season with new creative wind in our sails! Much of Garden Deva will stay the same: we will continue showcasing Lisa Regan’s most popular works along with creations of other designers on our staff. We are still making custom metal sculptures as we have been doing for 20+ years!

Bobby’s artwork - including more tie-dye patterns, his signature mandalas and whatever else may evolve from his artistry - will also be available in the gallery and online.

We are so excited for this new season, to continue making whimsical metal art for Tulsa and beyond, and providing creative experiences to you!

Thank you for your continued support of small business and the Tulsa art community. We are thrilled for what is ahead, so keep an eye on our announcements of new sculptures, art kits, and events!
