The recent catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria has caused tremendous damage to buildings and infrastructure, affecting millions of people.
The death toll is rising daily and recently surpassed 40,000. Many people have been displaced from their homes and are struggling to meet basic needs such as drinking water and shelter due to the tremendous damage to infrastructure over such a wide area.
UNICEF is currently on the ground in Syria and Turkey working to meet vital needs of children and families. They are doing crucial work such as:
- Identifying separated and unaccompanied children and working to reunite them with family
- Providing metal health support, emergency medical supplies, food and safe drinking water to children and families displaced by the earthquake, and
- Working to get children back into school as soon as they are safely able to do so.
We are donating 20% of the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Relief Lily to UNICEF’s efforts to meet the immediate needs of families affected by the recent earthquake.
